A Historic Landmark in Chennai

Vivekananda House Vivekananda House (known as Vivekanandar Illam in Tamil), an important landmark in Chennai is associated with the Sri Ramakrishna Math since 1897 when Swami Vivekananda stayed here for nine days after his triumphant return from the West. Later, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai was founded and functioned at this place during its ten years from 1897 to 1906. Now, this historic place houses a permanent exhibition on Indian Culture and Swami Vivekananda’s Life. Currently, Vivekananda House is maintained by Sri Ramakrishna Math and it’s a source of inspiration to thousands of people who visit it every year.

Experience Vivekananda Project – Exhibition on Swami Vivekananda’s Life & Message

As part of 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai has launched “Experience Vivekananda” Project, an initiative to showcase Swami Vivekananda’s personality and message through state-of-the-art multimedia galleries and exhibits at Vivekananda House utilizing various types of exhibits, short inspirational videos, 3D animated movie clips and a Holographic presentation.

Starting Vivekananda Cultural Centre

Math proposes to start a unique Cultural Centre in the name of Swami Vivekananda who is the icon of youth on his 150th Birth Anniversary.
The Centre will be devoted exclusively to the development of human excellence. Be a part of this noble cause.
Some of the proposed activities in the Centre:
  1. Courses on Yoga, Meditation, Vedanta, Hinduism and Swami Vivekananda.
  2. Classes for learning Vedic Chanting & Bhajan (devotional singing)
  3. Soft skill workshops for students and employed youth.
  4. A 3D/4D Theatre to screen animation movies on Swami Vivekananda to have a realistic experience of Swami Vivekananda’s life and message.
